You cannot always chase the obvious in street photography. You have to look up, look down, search for different perspectives. In general search for alternatives.

Otherwise, you get bored. And if that happens your photos will suffer. You start just to shoot based on clichés or you don’t shoot at all. You get stuck.

Sometimes I get bored with my photography or lack inspiration. That is a good time to open some books and admire others’ work. Or, grab the phone or tablet and read some stories about photography on Medium 😉.

Eventually, you get inspired and then you hit the street again with a fresh perspective. An example of a photo from Gustavo Minas that inspired me.

Photographing through glass has been for me a refreshing exercise with results that can confuse and delight.

Reflections

In the cities, you are not short of glass in the buildings, namely shop windows. Mix this with busy streets. You have infinite possibilities for reflections and layers.
