I miss relaxing in a bathtub
surrounded by bubbles
eyes shut — a song dancing
interrupted by, “Mom, Kari hit me”
and a pounding at the door signaling
It’s time to dry

I miss struggling on homework
hard for a twelve-year-old
and sometimes too hard for me
work that needs to be completed…
