Take the First Step
Whenever you’re ready to live on purpose.
The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step
Whatever it is that you want to do, whatever it is that you want to accomplish — writing a book or climbing Mount Everest (both of which, by the way, I want to do), the first step is to take the first step.
I don’t know if it is easy or hard, but I know it is the most important thing to do because when you take the first step, it inevitably leads to the second step, which leads to the third step, and so on. Before you know it, you have picked up momentum and you are on your way.
Your first step could be anything. If you want to write a book, your first step may be as simple as buying a notebook and writing “My First Book” on the cover. If you don’t have anything clever or meaningful to write, don’t fret and more importantly, don’t scold yourself.
It could mean that the second step may not have made itself visible to you. Congratulate yourself, give yourself a pat on the back, then get to writing. It is less important what you write than the fact that you write. Writers write…
…and climbers climb. If you want to climb Mount Everest, find the nearest hill and get climbing.
