In the bible (Matthew 14:22–36), a story is told of Peter and the disciples on a boat. Jesus has commanded them to cross the Sea of Galilee in the middle of a storm.

As the disciples are crossing the sea, a figure appears to be walking towards them. Frightened at the thought of it being a ghost, they cry out in fear and hear the reply of Jesus, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.”

Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” He said, “Come.”

So, Peter begins to step out of the boat. He takes one foot, followed by the other, and starts moving towards Jesus. With his eyes constantly fixated on the Lord, he is able to physically walk on the water.

However, his steps of faith only last a moment as he becomes flustered. He focuses on the winds and waves that surround him and immediately begins to sink.

At the cry of, “Lord, save me!” Jesus rushes over to pick him up and says, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”

Now, if you're a believer, you’ve probably heard this story thousands of times. However, it holds some very timely and important lessons.
