I know this about you: you are more exhausted than you realize. Whatever leads you to this chapter has depleted your energy. It was spent fighting to survive, prevent or recover from some unfortunate turn of events. You’ve drawn upon your reserves to mitigate damage or control outcomes.

And now you’re here, on the edge of burnout.

While you keep the triage practice going, your next step toward resilience is to replenish your energy reserves. This step won’t be hurried, so don’t even try. It takes as long as it takes. Your willful mind can’t hurry it. Your wise soul won’t accept subterfuge. Your relationships can’t be faked forever.

Consider how long it took you to slide into this low-energy state. Consider the collateral damage — to your body, emotions, mind, soul, relationships — needing time to heal. Factor in you are not only recovering energy, but you are also expending energy to deal with the current crisis, and you storing energy for the future.

Okay, you’re probably starting to see this is a major effort requiring your full commitment. For life. Yes, resilience is a lifestyle.
