Todays Artist Discovery, Alt Pop singer songwriter JJ Bloom, combines elements of Pop, Funk, Soul and R&B to create a uniquely distinguishable sound full of commercial potential.

Having recently released his debut single, the future looks very bright for this Irish born musician — real name Conor McQuaid. It is, however, fair to say that he’s already had a quite a journey so far…

Conor is no stranger to the music & entertainment industry, you see, having previously been in the impressive Irish production, Dúlamán. The show centred around four vocalists (featuring Conor) and a troupe of dancers performing both traditional and modern Irish songs. A truly magical experience.

It saw great success, particularly in Germany where the talented young performers reached the live TV finals of Das Supertalent — a part of Simon Cowell’s worldwide Got Talent group. This led to a contract with music and entertainment industry giants, Sony Music Entertainment.

Conor has also co-written songs with Irish pop artist Jake Carter , as well as yet to be released tracks with French artists Le trottoir d’en face and John Linhart — drawing inspiration from artists such as Hall & Oates, The Style Council and Tom Misch, who he states as his main sources of influence.

Conor has recently entered a new chapter in his life, embarking on a solo adventure with the recent release of his debut single ‘Always You’ on 10th April 2020. The track has an upbeat Pop feel to it — with tight and groovy instrumentation, funky guitar licks and a contagiously catchy chorus…

Aside from writing and performing the song, the 23 year old also produced and mixed it — proving there are clearly many strings to this young artists bow. For the icing on the cake, the track was then mastered by Fergal Davis (Muse, Republic of Loose, The Divine Comedy).

Michael Reid directs a skilful creative crew to produce an energetic and enjoyable music video — featuring a talented cast choreographed by Robyn Whittaker.

There an awful lot of boxes to be ticked when trying to carve out a career as an original musician — arguably especially as an solo artist…

…with a very promising future ahead, Conor McQuaid (AKA JJ Bloom) is well on his way to ticking each and every one of those boxes and we cannot wait to see what comes next!
