Todays spotlight lands on London based Pop Punk band Artist Discovery Livonia.

This up and coming five piece serve a tasty platter of riffy instrumentation, groovy rhythms and catchy choruses — guaranteed get your head nodding along, whether you want it to or not!

The group formed back in 2019 — starting hot out of the gate with the release of their debut single in October and by quickly carving out a name for themselves on the London live music scene…

Although still a relatively new band, i t’s clear when listening to Livonia’s debut release, ‘Talking’, that the group has a very promising future ahead within the the realms of UK Pop Punk and beyond.

The well recorded/mixed track begins with an upbeat, boppy instrumental section before dropping straight down to just one riffy guitar line for the start of the verse — ready for vocalist James Bate’s enjoyably distinguishable lead vocal to be revealed.

This is quickly followed by the introduction of further layers throughout the verse — well placed to build up the dynamic throughout, creating a real sense of story progression for the listener.

If you’re not hooked yet, just wait until the chorus…

The chorus is comprised of a catchy AF vocal hook and a wall of thick sounding instrumentation, tightly locking together to provide a real ‘dancey’ Don Broco-esk feel — courtesy of guitarists Rob Cone & Mark ‘MAC’ Craig, bassist Tom Matthews and drummer Chris Walters.

Another verse/chorus later and the bridge comes in — dropping down to an anthemic like vocal with snare driven backbone, reminiscent of that bygone Pop Punk era from 2/3 decades ago.

As the final chorus comes to a close you’re left wanting more…

Luckily for us all — the boys are clearly not content with slowing down, having followed their debut single with their first EP, ‘Hate. Relate. Regenerate.’, on March 13th 2020.

Recorded at Outhouse Studios, this 4 track release (including ‘Talking’) provides more of the same Pop Punk greatness.

They even have an ‘ard looking illustrated cow — complete with a nose ring and fringe — as their EP artwork, curtesy of Shane Linkston…

…now if that isn’t Pop Punk enough for you then you may as well throw away your old Paramore posters and Slam Dunk/Warped Tour tickets now.

To summarise — this Milton Keynes based five piece are an awesomely strong addition to the UK music scene and we cannot wait to see what comes next!
