Do you have Challenges with Sample Storage and Handling?

Let the new update ease your process

Sample management is a tedious task. Right from the collection, there are many challenges that occur repeatedly. Incorrect way of handling samples due to lack of training, non-uniform approach for storage and many such issues lead to an increased rate of mistakes and confusion; thus demanding more time and effort.

A predefined list of color codes for sample storage (for a given test) sets a uniform process for you. Colors help you identify the correct type of vacutainer for a given test; eliminating potential mistakes that occurred earlier as compared to the old approach. With such a self-explanatory guide, lab technicians have the ability to handle samples without any assistance or training.

How is using Standardization of Container type Helpful for your Lab?

Using Standardization of Container type can help your Lab. Know how!

Using a standard set of container types help labs in three main areas of sample life cycle management -

Adds ease for high-level segregation at accession:

Having an auto-defined guide avoids confusion as well as mixing and mishandling of samples. You can also customize color codes as per your usage and have a seamless experience with sample handling throughout your network. Setting a specific color for a particular type of testing sample facilitates quick identification; thus tagging with the correct vacutainer colors helps identify high-level segregation of samples much faster and safer.

Simplifies distribution as per departments and instruments:

Looking at a specific colored knob, you know what action is to be performed next on the sample. For example, a test tube with a purple cap (EDTA) indicates that the sample must be directly placed in an instrument without having to centrifuge or aliquot. Hence, the default color code simplifies sending samples for the right department and the right instrument quickly; saving significant time and effort during B2B distribution.

Reduces errors during sample collection & transfer:

The pre-available set of standard color codes for sample storage streamlines the process of sample life cycle management; setting SOPs that match NABL protocols. Having a clear vision on each step, action and techniques throughout the process eliminates potential chances of mistakes; reducing errors during collection and transfer of samples. Leakages that usually happened earlier as a result of fragmented management can now be discarded using defined formats. This helps to improve patient safety and enables lab of any size to attain compliance for the future.

Our software application has been introduced with updates that work better for you. Here is how adding a standard list of Samples and Container types in your LIMS facilitates sample handling procedure for your lab facility.

In the accession section, under ‘accession settings’ you are allowed to select sample type and container type using the drop-down button. The drop-down list in each of these has been predefined with reference to the BD vacutainer tube guide; to keep the list standardized. Container types are defined with specific color codes.

You can also select a new vacutainer type and we auto-select its international color code from the bar right next to it. We can set your colors if needed too.
