Hackathon season got off to a speedy start NFTHack, a virtual gathering of passionate creatives and developers with a host of fascinating takes on the evolving world of non-fungible tokens that took place January 14th to 16th.

Livepeer went in with high expectations for this high-intensity event, and were blown away by the caliber of the finalists and prizewinners!

Running with this year’s theme of “Build the Fair Future”, Livepeer put up $10,000 in bounties for visionary, creative and practical projects that will help video creators, audiences and developers thrive in a Web3 world.

And the hacks delivered. The contenders for Livepeer prize money showed they have the potential to be part of the Web3 video future. Our four prize-winners, meanwhile, are already well on their way.

The top prize of $4,000 and the title “Killer Web3 Video App” went to NiftyBadger, a Web3 platform that allows creators to make and mint their own NFT collections at the touch of a button. Nifty Badger also supports token-gated live streaming and offers creators the ability to link NFT collections and to automatically message followers about new exclusive streams.

The team behind NFT Arcade took home $3,000 for developing an NFT marketplace where streamers, creators and gamers can quickly upload short videos of their golden moments — all processed through Livepeer — and turn them into NFTs. Each streamer has a profile within the Livepeer dashboard to allow them to access and control their own streams.

DHub, a blockchain-native solution that makes it easy to set up exclusive events for token-holders, won $2,000 and was named best token-gated tool. DHub also offers censorship-resistant streaming for broadcasters, with all streams transcoded on the Livepeer network.

Got It, an NFT-based ecosystem designed to help broadcasters interact more closely with their audiences, was awarded $2,000 for the most effective use of @UnlockProtocol and Livepeer (a co-sponsored prize).

It’s been a great start to 2022 and our congratulations and thanks go out to everyone who took part.

And if you didn’t make it this time — there’s more coming soon! ETHGlobal is taking its efforts to fuel Web3 innovation up a gear. There are already six in-person events and at least 10 online events planned for 2022. And there are as many as six other ETHGlobal events in “stealth mode”, so keep an eye on the event calendar for your chance to innovate with ETHGlobal and Livepeer!
