Prescot residents gathered for tea and coffee at Brown’s Field Parks on Saturday while they cleared litter from both the park’s grounds, and Carr Lane Woods.

The litter pick, which lasted from 10:00AM until 12:30PM, was hosted by the Friends of KGV Brown’s Field and Carr Lane Woods Facebook page.

The event had a “good turnout”, with people from the local community, and comes after Brown’s Field was put on the list of 17 parks in Knowsley.

The Facebook page, ‘Save Browns Fields Park!’, was set up by members of the Prescott borough, after fearing the loss of their beloved green space that is home to a yearly carnival, as well as a children’s football team.

In a message on their Facebook page, Friends of KGV Brown’s Field and Carr Lane Woods, said: “BIG, BIG THANK YOU to everybody who came for a cuppa, a chat or even to help us out with our litter pick this morning.

“It was a real success and we can’t wait to see you all again next weekend!”

Residents of all ages are encouraged to attend Brown’s Field again this week, where another litter pick is scheduled for 24th February at 10:00AM.

There will be tea and coffee, and residents will be able to take part in “odd jobs” around the park.

Brown’s Field park is located on Wood Lane, Prescott, L34 1NU.
