Why does South Korean Market Matter? (David Pichilingi, CEO of Modern Sky UK)

David Pichilingi has a lifetime of experience in the international music business. Over his career he started as an artist signed to RCA/BMG. For over 10 years he worked with Tony Wilson (Factory/Hacienda) on the acclaimed In The City conference and festival.
Sound City was formed in 2008 and is now the largest and most important metropolitan music festival and business conference in the UK. Annually attracting 3500 delegates/30,000 live audience. Sound City delivers world-class festivals and music business conferences in other international territories. They also work with a number of blue chip clients in the delivery of their cultural, sport and music projects in key European and international territories.
In 2016 Modern Sky Entertainment purchased an equity stake in Sound City. Modern Sky are the largest independent entertainment company in mainland China selling over 5 million tickets per year and having an audience of over 42 million on their VOD platform Modern Sky NOW (MNOW). As part of this deal David took on the role of CEO Modern Sky UK.
Modern Sky UK has now signed over 10 bands and artists to their record and publishing division and already had their first commercial album success with Slow Readers Club. Modern Sky UK works closely with their sister companies in Beijing, New York and Berlin.
David aims to reciprocate the success of China and turn Modern Sky into a force and truly well respected global brand.
