Free Mental Health Class for Wildfire First Responders

JOHNSON CITY–A free mental health class is being offered to first responders involved in the Gatlinburg wildfires.

East Tennessee State University will offer the free class Apr. 5 at its Sevierville location, according to a Monday report. School officials say the program will help participants identify symptoms of mental health issues caused by a traumatic experiences like the wildfires.

The class is also intended to provide initial aid to those public safety personnel before guiding them toward professional help, if needed.
