Hurricane Irma made landfall this week in the Caribbean as one of the strongest Atlantic storms ever recorded and has left behind unprecedented damage to the islands in its wake.

The National Hurricane Center projects Irma will be near the central Bahamas by Friday and then make landfall in south Florida, near Miami, on Sunday morning as a Category 4 hurricane, bringing high winds, abundant rainfall and potentially dangerous storm surge.

Nearly 60% of homes in high risk flood zones of south east florida are uninsured, and about 90% of homes in moderate to low risk zones are uninsured — most of which are also exposed to the potential impacts of Irma.

The interactive map below provides a quick access to high risk flood zones with the ability to search specific addresses in this area.

We will be updating this interactive map with other data in the coming days.
