A Letter to Latino MAGA

Lest anyone think my ire is reserved for just White MAGA

To the Latina I saw wearing a MAGA hat,

I hope you or your family get deported.

I never thought I would think such a thing, but this last election hardened me. Having my pleas be ignored about the damage that a second Donald Trump term would cause is a slap in the face. I’ve resolved to no longer try to reason with or educate those who refuse to listen because I’m exhausted.

Do you think my anger and disgust were reserved for just white MAGA? You’re sadly mistaken. At least I never expected any kindness, compassion, or decency from them, so I wasn’t disappointed that they intended to go down with the Trump ship. White people have always been shit. The fact that 60% of Latinos voted for the person who has never been shy about his disdain for them still boggles my mind.

Intellectually, I have an inkling as to why the Latino community voted the way they did. Plenty of Latino immigrants who escape poverty, unrest, or violence in their homelands to settle in the United States take advantage of the limited safety net the United States offers them, such as food stamps or Medicaid. Such programs often aren’t offered in their countries of origin.
