Madison Square Garden Just Lost a Patron
A venue that holds many joyous memories has now been tainted by Donald Trump

A demagogue taints memories of a beloved venue
I am a born and bred New Yorker. Most New Yorkers know the venue as the home of the basketball team New York Knicks and the home of the hockey team New York Rangers. I have never seen either team play there live as I am not a huge sports fan. However, I am not without my share of fond memories of the venue as it hosts other events besides basketball and hockey.
This is the venue where I saw the circus as a child. My mother took me to see Prince perform there for my 17th birthday. I saw acts such as Al B. Sure, Mary J. Blige and Jay-Z perform there as an adult. Two years ago, I saw the O’Jays there on their farewell tour. Late last month, a friend discovered that Stevie Wonder would perform there. However, we didn’t find out about the show until around two weeks beforehand and it had long sold out. At the time, I was hugely disappointed about not being able to see that show.
