Stumbling towards new forms of organising

This piece is part of a collection a living collections of ideas, experiences, and reflections of and for practice from our own action inquiries into forms of organising for systemic change. It was created by Louise and Anna who are based at Forum for the Future and part of a multitude of spaces, from labs and networks to platforms and communities of practice.

Last week we published a blog “From organisations towards organising #systemicforms” that looks at why we need different forms of organising. Over the last five years we’ve been exploring and experimenting what it means to design, live and work with these ideas in practise. We’ve learnt alot about what works and what doesn’t. And through our journeys there have been challenges we have come up against, things where we have stumbled into, and tensions we’ve experienced in organising differently whilst also working for, with and within organisations.

Anna and I have had many conversations about our personal experiences over the last few years — we started to write something, but realised that doing it in conversation is much easier. So we’ve recorded a chat we had that digs into some of the reoccurring themes we’re encountering as we’re living out new forms of organising — from accountability, power, decision making, leadership, communication, support and collaborative working cultures.

Take a listen — and we’d love to hear your feedback and hear your experiences of how some of these things have played out too.
