Understanding “Our Time” and “Other Times”

How do we understand ‘our time’?

Our time is not really one thing — it is a sum-total Time of all our times together — each of us having a good time or not.

This ‘Our Time’ was not the Time of our parents, grandparents or our Ancestors ever (Where did we draw the lines?). More importantly, whether we had a good time last evening, or a bad time last year — this Time is ‘our time’ — a collective idea.

Our Time will not be the Time then of our coming generations — It will also be some other summation (additive? or some complex mush?), of other times and surely a grandly different, strange ‘Their Time’.

Time isn’t really time here, is it?

It is some way of corralling a Dominant Pattern of ways of Being, in their Prime (for they will be past tense for sure) — with some thread running through all those individual good and bad times.

Maybe it is that thread, or threads, woven together in a “Fabric of our Times” we call “Our Time”. If there were a thread or fabric that made a Bigger Carpet across our times and theirs, we could call it Civilization.

It takes a lot of civilizing thought to make one Big Time for civilization, Humanity and the planet of all Creation. We don’t have as yet, the integrating mind, small and big, that knows how to weave our times together, before our own frays.

Maybe not even how it looks on the outside, though that is mostly how we point to it, but patterns of what it means to be at a particular moment in history, and how we mostly bring it about.

That last bit is what makes ‘other times’ — the ones that went by and the ones that are coming, in time (this is the other time — the one that ticks, on a straight line into eternity).

These times will pass, other times will come, and the Aladdin that rides the Carpet with the Lamp of wishful thinking of eternal glories, will tip over the edge of that carpet, when other times raise their head.
