Hi guys!

My mum is the most hardworking and inspiring person in my life. She is my role model and has achieved so much in her life. She represents the epitome of grace and resilience.

She is a brilliant woman, and I’m always in awe of her.

Her birthday was last week, and if you read the title, you already know why I’m writing this post today.

If you’d like to express your appreciation for her birthday in a truly unique manner, I strongly recommend subscribing to her YouTube channel

So with that said, here are 11 things my mum does every day to inspire me:

  1. Waking up early: I don’t think I have ever seen my mum sleep late even if she has had a long day. She is an early bird and wakes up before the sun rises. I guess during her childhood her parents instilled in her the discipline of waking up early and she still carries it to this day.
  2. Making her Bed: Her room and bed are always tidy and made. She has taught me the importance of making my bed every day, and I am so grateful to her for this. Oh yea, I forgot, she gets me to make her bed too!
  3. Praying: Every morning and night, my mum prays. I was raised Christian, and she has taught me the importance of having a relationship with God and consistently praying. Her faith is unshakeable, and she believes that prayer can move mountains. Watching her pray daily is a constant reminder of the power of faith.
  4. Exercising: Well, I am not going to lie; she doesn’t exercise that much, but she does get in a few stretches every morning. She is constantly encouraging me to stay active and fit, so I can understand why she makes it a point to stretch and do some simple exercises on a daily basis.
  5. Reading a book for 15 minutes: When I tell you she loves books, I mean she loves books! She’s always reading something and encourages me to do the same. Even if it’s just for 15 minutes a day, she believes you can learn something from reading. I think she mostly reads self-help books and inspirational novels.
  6. Spend 45 minutes learning a new skill or working on a personal project: My mum is currently working on her non-profit, which is all about empowering and teaching youths how to be great leaders and entrepreneurs. She is a perfectionist, so she constantly works to improve her skills and learn new ones. She says it’s important that we always keep our skills up to date and stay current with the times.
  7. Staying positive: My mum is a master at staying positive. No matter how tough life gets, she always finds light in everything. I like to call her my sunshine because she spreads positivity around me.
  8. Being Productive: She practices the 888 rule, which means she sleeps for 8 hours, works for 8 hours, and the last 8 hours are spent on personal development or recreation, or leisure. Even with a busy day, she still finds time to do something productive. I have learned to do the same, which has been.
  9. Making Connections: I underestimated how important networking is until I watched my mum in action. She always ensures she’s building her network and making new connections. It’s incredible how many people she knows from all walks of life! I decided to make five new connections daily to expand my network.
  10. Having Elevated Conversations: When I’m with my mum, our conversations always revolve around life lessons and how to be better versions of ourselves. She has taught me the power of asking questions and having deep conversations that spark real growth in us.

Learning from my mother’s example, it is clear that staying productive and motivated does not start and end with a to-do list.

People must invest in themselves, challenge themselves, and surround themselves with inspiring people. Successful habits do not come overnight — they must be honed and cultivated over time.

Every day, my mother takes deliberate steps which underpin the robust foundation of her well-being.

It reminds us to surrender our ego so we can rise above trying times to reach a higher consciousness.

Achieving this balance of strength and humility requires dedication and discipline!

So take a page from my mum’s book by waking up early, making your bed, praying or meditating to clear your mind, exercising to energize your body, reading to learn something new, making connections with other people for networking, spending some leisure time for yourself to rest — and most importantly remind yourself there is always more room for improvement!

And when uncertainly looms ahead? Be like my mother — laugh through the storm 🤣
