Getting To Know Your Neighbors

It’s a good thing

So many people do not know their neighbors.

Last night my wife and I went to a neighborhood party. There were about twenty people there for the backyard gathering. Of course, many more in the neighborhood had been invited, but it was a nice group of people.

A couple were the hosts for people in the neighborhood. Most had been involved with an activist group in the area. They were people who were concerned with improving life in the neighborhood. Some of their issues focused on traffic on some of the streets and fire safety.

People may know their neighbors who attend the same church but might possibly not know the others who do not go to their church or any church.

Some neighborhoods are very close, and the people living on the same street get to know each other well. Other neighborhoods are not friendly places, and people rarely even know their next-door neighbors.

That can be especially true in apartment or condominium buildings where multiple families live. People may not even know the names of the people next door.
