How many times have we felt that we need to be everywhere? We need to be here, post there, get that call done and then make that meal too. We need to watch that show, read that book, get that workout done and get that to-do list done too.
Our minds are constantly juggling tasks and to-do lists. The restlessness we feel all the while knowing that we have something pending.
But here is the thing. No matter how many tasks we check off our lists, there will always be a new to-do list waiting. There will always be something else to take care of, and there will always be someone that needs our time.
The fear of missing out is quite common. Time doesn’t wait, and nor does our growth and development. That Instagram post of someone enjoying a vacation, getting married, achieving a career milestone, and others make us feel inadequate or, most precise, we feel completely lost. We tell ourselves that we have no hold of ourselves; no matter how much we try, we never get down to doing the things that we like and, in the process, worry as to where we are heading towards.

So, there you go. The golden truth that no matter how hard we try, there will be something that we will miss out on. And you know what? It’s completely okay.
We want to get everything done right. We want to go places and see everything possible. But in the process, instead of enjoying something to the fullest, the day is spent complaining about how tired we feel and how we didn’t enjoy a single minute of the day.
Humans are visual beings. What we observe turns into memories that last for a lifetime. But to create memories, we need to be present where we are at to allow the mind to process sceneries and situations. That’s when we have something that no one else will have, which is that memory.

To live a meaningful life and appreciate the life we are given, gratitude is the only way we pay attention to the countless blessings we have. It’s only then that being fully present becomes a priority as while making our gratitude list, we need to focus on the now.
So, where does gratitude link with the fear of missing out?
Imagine that in the process of wanting to be everywhere, are we genuinely present anywhere? Or is it that we think of being somewhere else when we are somewhere? If that’s so, how will we create memories that we will remember and then be grateful for having them?
Therefore, the solution is then to be where you are at this very moment. Please focus on the now and experience what life is trying to teach you because we all have individual lessons. We all have different backgrounds, and that’s precisely what makes us interesting and unique.
Why then take the exhausting effort of trying to be everywhere and living in a constant state of anxiety? Is it worth it to feel miserable most of the time just because we couldn’t be somewhere else?
Take some time off. Close your eyes, breathe and then set priorities. Choose what you wish to invest your time in. That way, you may not be there where everyone else is at the moment, but where you are at, you are wholly present and creating an experience that is only yours for a lifetime.
