Sacred Communion: Earth-Pulse

It is November, the 16th.

At precisely 5 am and 5 pm, a breeze begins to ruffle every leaf of every tree and hedge and bush. Laughingly it weaves in and out, chuckling all the while, in merriment. Every day is children’s day here: listen awhile and you can hear a child’s laughter, and the crooning lullaby of Mother Earth.

Place your hand on the trunk of a tree: any tree, and through the tips of your fingers, and the palm of your hand, primal energy courses through you. For that one moment, you realise that you are one: that the energy which created you is eternal, everlasting: that all the atoms that created you, will go away and create something else, when you are no longer around, like Bill Bryson so succinctly put it, in his ‘A Brief History of Nearly Everything’

So, go out in the morning and in the evening. Stand near a tree. And if there are more trees, stand among them and look at the inverted bowl of the sky. Send up a prayer of gratitude, for eyes that can see, and a heart that can hear the music of the earth: for the warmth of the sun, the light of the moon, and your momentary communion with both.

We have so much to be thankful for.

Stay blessed.
