The Light Switch
Anyone can find themselves in the dark until someone flips the light switch.
Having the knowledge engraved into my brain,
That I now do,
That I didn’t long ago,
Allowed me to see,
People will unveil their colors true,
It was like being engulfed in pure darkness,
When I chose to allow myself to be blindfolded,
By the deceptions,
I chose to believe,
That wrapped around me,
Enclosing me,
Trapping my heart and mind,
In a world that doesn’t even exist,
It isn’t real,
The darkness masked your lies,
It was like lying awake,
In the middle of midnight,
Gazing up at the ceiling,
Insomnia consuming the dark,
Robbing me of precious moments,
The Sandman should have,
Brought me in his magic bag,
Fumbling around aimlessly,
Grasping and stretching,
In hopes to find the light,
An end to my blissful ignorance,
It’s like someone flipped a light switch,
Illuminating a path,
That will lead straight into authenticity,
Exposing your wicked ways,
Shedding light onto the sick games you play,
Casting out the black that was kept hidden,
Of how you truly felt,
Showing me the feelings you never showed,
Of who you really were on the inside,
The you that you kept locked away in the light,
Keeping me in the dark,
That kept me drawn to you,
Like a miller moth is sucked into,
The beauty of the blue flame,
Luminous and incandescent,
Glowing and captivating,
Like the love I felt for you until now…
