I’ll never forget when my friend Jackie started seeing Charles.
Charles was an Australian-European which meant that his Mediterranean looks were killer with the ladies. He had eyes like black jade and laughed often, and I think he has one of the most easy-going personalities I ever encountered.
Everyone liked Charles. Especially Jackie.
She harbored a major fancy on him for months before he finally looked her way, and she was smitten when he asked her to spend some one-on-one time together.

Unfortunately, Jackie’s joy was nothing but fleeting when Charles dished out the hot and cold specialty. We all know that guy who is only around for the fun times and slacks off in every other way.
Charles didn’t put Jackie first.
Or second or third.
His attention was purely self-serving.
He didn’t call her to say “hey.”
He objectified her sexually.
He avoided making a deeper connection.
