One Chapter Ends, Music — Long and Lost by Florence + The Machine

This is the ongoing journal of my personal awakening. Through up to date and un-edited realness, I hope to help you walk through your own awakening with more balance, love and ease.

Hello again,
my dear old friend.
It’s been a year and a half
since you passed away
and I still see you in glimpses —
on the street, in my dreams.

Last night you visited me again.
I don’t always remember dreams —
this one is still fuzzy.
What I do remember
is you there with me,
in a classroom,
though I’m not sure
why or where.
And I was dancing.

Is that what you are trying to tell me?
That I need to dance through my grief?
Because it is still here now.
A tightness in my chest and throat.
The tears are still here after 19 months,
ready to flow.

Most of the time I am ok, happy even.
And then I’ll see the back
of a someone’s head
and I’ll think it’s you.
Then I remember all over again.

Maybe it’s because
I didn’t get to say goodbye.
Your passing was a complete surprise.
Even after going to your memorial,
it’s clear that there is more still
for me to express.

Words may not be enough.
So this morning,
I will dance to talk to you
my dear friend.
Dance to remember you,
dance to be with you again.

It’s not goodbye forever,
but I do feel the need
for one chapter to end
and a new one to begin.
The new is unknown to me.
Still, I wait with excitement
to see my old friend again.
I’ll know when that sparkle, that glint,
shows up in a new eye
that my friend is saying hello.
