Change the kitchen habit…

As a Chinese student we sometimes at the first couldn’t adapt to the food here, as we find it a lot cold dishes and salads. We really are used to hot water, hot meals even for breakfast. AS for our habit, we would heat our electromagnetic oven I the morning to make hot noodles. We love to stew meats and soups. We need the electric kettle for hot water and tea.

To calculate, the oven will generally consume 2 kWh per one hour. To change our cooking and eating habit, if we limit our stew dish and soups from 3 times (average) a week into just 1 time or 0 per week, we would possibly reduce 6h of usage on the oven, which could save up to 12kWh per week. If we switch some of our meal into salads and cold dishes, we could save up to 5–6kWh per week, plus we do not cook hot meals for breakfast, instead we eat breads, so we can save the extra of 6kWh. Changing the cooking and food habit, we can already save up to about 20kWh in total for a week.

And we already started to try this out. It is not only saving the electricity, but also healthier, plus saving us the time of cooking.

Cold prosciutto with promotion has been the frequent product in our fridge
And we are also bringing ourself to eat breads and salads very healthily
