MY WEEKEND WITHOUT WHEELS
As the final chapter of this challenge to reduce my energy consumption, I will tell you about one of the most drastic habits I adopted since I began this journey.
This weekend, I returned to my hometown, Bologna, where I primarily use a scooter or an electric car to get around from home. What I tried to do was avoid any means of transportation available and move only on foot. I put on my sneakers, and for the weekend, except in the evening, I moved in this way, sometimes alone and sometimes with my friends. I must be honest, I only managed a couple of days because it was very tiring, but I’m glad I tried it because it allowed me to slow down the pace, enjoy walks, and get some exercise. Another positive aspect to consider is that I didn’t have to pay for scooter gasoline or charge the car, “saving” two days of energy consumption.
However, my journey doesn’t end here; these exercises have motivated me to continue making a difference in my own small way, and I come out of this experience with a greater awareness of my consumption and the value and importance that electricity holds in our lives.
