Warm yourself with hot water from a kettle

The answer lies in hot water bottles.

The temperature has dropped a little now in October. I don’t like the cold as my body gets cold very quickly, but since the central heating system is not yet available, one of my most recent challenges was how to stay warm and comfortable.
An electric blanket at least keeps my bed warm, so I always used that when it was cold. The blanket may not consume a lot of electricity itself, but it was clear that it was having an impact on my energy consumption, as I turned it on almost all the time, for 24 hours a day, when it is even a little cold.

I decided to take the plunge and buy a rubber hot water bottle. It was about €10 on amazon.

My lovely fluffy one

I found it is warmer and softer than I had imagined and the gentle warmth makes me feel happy. Above all, I was surprised that when I put this in bed and sleep with it, it stays warm until the morning.

What nice to mention is, I don’t have to boil water only for it. I drink warm water or tea on a daily basis by boiling water with my electronic kettle, so when I want to use a hot-water bottle, I boil more water and that’s it. Once the water is boiled, I pour enough into my mug first and then I pour all the remaining water into the hot-water bottle. It is very easy and doesn’t waste energy from boiling. Thanks to this, I’ve been using it almost every day for the past few days.

This is something rather classic, but these classical methods do not require much energy. It is one of the discoveries that simple tools that do not rely on technology can still make life more comfortable.
