The Dream Life of Being a Digital Nomad Is Actually a Myth
Perhaps becoming a digital nomad is a dream of yours.
It was one of mine for years.
I’d read enticing blog posts and watch vlogs from my favorite YouTubers. Daily I’d do visualization exercises in order to help my dream manifest into reality. I’d dream of all of the wonderful people I’d meet, the delicious food I’d eat, and the interesting places I’d discover.
And finally, two years ago my dream came true.
But, of course, dreams are not all sunshine and rainbows.
#1. Life is more unpredictable
When I first started my nomad journey it was unplanned.
You see, I booked a two-week vacation to a digital nomad hotspot (Tulum, Mexico). My intention was to just check things out. And to get out of NYC which was still in a semi-lockdown.
But that two-week vacation turned into a month-long stay.
That month-long stay then morphed into me traveling to other cities in Mexico. Despite the fact I wanted this lifestyle very much, I didn’t know what I was getting myself into. Being a digital nomad is not about working in all the “hotspots” while having access to beaches on a daily basis.
