Please allow me to introduce myself…

(Pull up a chair, pour yourself a beer, let’s get to know each other).

Biggest job perk — I work on the team that created the identity of my favorite beer bar. Brews after hours?

I’m sitting here, month two nearing a close. I’ve met our fabulous partners, clients, and dare I say, friends, cohorts and comrades? I’m in awe. I’m amazed, and quite flattered to work with not only a clear view of downtown, but of the amazing designs created and awards won.

I’m the new guy, the rookie, the totally n00bular young padawan to the team. But I haven’t felt like it.

come at me creative world, I’m ready.

I’ve been greeted with open arms, fist bumps and a few cold ones.

New guy? Scratch that. New friend.

That’s not to say I’m entering this role with no fear.

There’s always something about starting a new job, it’s much like starting your first day of school. You’re anxiety ridden, pick out an outfit the night before to change it 6 times before heading to work, blare your #girlpower playlist on the way, as sort of a rocky montage ready to kick ass for what’s to come.

I was warned this was a high-energy, semi-chaotic, creative laboratory, and I’d be sitting with a desk in-between a mad scientist and his partner-in-crime.

mad scientist and partner in crime. (not pictured, the punk-rocking it out that happens on the daily)

But realistically, the scariest thing I’ve experienced thus far is being given the task of keeping the office plant by my desk alive.
(Everybody pour one out for the many plants I’ve murdered in my garden)

They’re just badass people doing badass things for more badass people.

And thats a culture I can get behind.

It’s more than any office culture jargon-filled blog post could tell you. It’s more than ordering indian food together and talking about how their never is enough naan. It even surpasses staying late to brainstorm over a few cold ones and standing-desk dance parties.

It’s about having a space where you’re uninhibited to just create. And not just create, but create cool shit.

And that concept of fitting in? Forget it.

Be you, they’ll love you anyways. Even if you have slightly-embarrassing music choices, still have a crush on Jesse McCartney, are the proud parent to a maine coon and two furry guinea piglets, and are the office morning person.

Here, anything but ordinary is not just tolerated, but celebrated.

At the end of the day, it’s all about creating cool shit and making our mother’s proud.

On that note, how the heck am I getting paid for having this much fun?
