Where artist, runner, and fine jewelry company owner Sarah Peddicord finds home

Sarah Peddicord grew up in Pacific Palisades, in a cozy family home on a street that was lined with sycamore trees. Hers was a childhood spent outside; much of Peddicord and her two sisters’ time was occupied by ziplining, swimming, and trampolining in their backyard. Now, similarly, Peddicord loves to spend her time outside doing something a little different: running.

In 2018, Peddicord ran the Chicago Marathon (a 26.2 mile event) with the Nike Women Marathon Project. At the time, she’d never run a marathon before, but it was her resolution to do so. “Nike put us through training, nutrition, team bonding, experiences out of this world, gave us gear, the whole nine yards. They flew us to Chicago and had us all run our first marathon together,” Peddicord said. “It was truly an experience I’ll never forget.”

Beyond running, Peddicord finds her home in art. Growing up, she took ceramics, drawing, painting, photography, knitting, and woodshop in and outside of school. “I remember one of my first pieces of art I was so proud of was a little ceramic piece I made in middle school. My mom still keeps it in her kitchen, I think that’s why I’m still so proud of it,” Peddicord recalled. But it wasn’t until high school that she began to feel like an artist, when she realized that art was a strength and wasn’t embarrassed about it.

One of Peddicord’s many creative avenues is a fine jewelry company she created with her sister, Lauren, called ISL Malibu. (It was created in Malibu.) Peddicord loves being creative, she tells me. Lately, she’s been crafting creative things — running, a workout, an exciting plan for the day — to look forward to throughout her day, or even get her out of bed in the morning.
