“To learn with Lobster Ink is not just to read out of a book,” says Joyce Ann Lajo, Learning and Development Manager at One&Only The Palm, Dubai. “It’s interactive and fun because you’re learning through videos and practice. Furthermore, the fact that Lobster Ink is taught by industry professionals who are passionate does enroll the attention as well.”

This engaging experience builds confidence and boosts morale, and for colleagues at One&Only The Palm, this is what it means to learn. During the month of December, colleagues completed 1 709 subjects with an average score of 78%.

Supporting and motivating learners to complete their modules, Lobster Leader Julien Chambon (Assistant F&B Manager) and Outlets Operations Manager, Guillaume Morel, continue to help learners reach their goals. Computers at the hotel and a computer room at the hotel accommodation have also been made available to colleagues. “It greatly helps our colleagues complete their modules on time because the facilities are present.”

Joyce and her team also distribute the monthly Lobster Ink reports to colleagues to share good performance and to identify areas that require attention. They also recognize and celebrate the Lobster Ink Champion of a month who receives a certificate.

Joyce believes that continual training will help hospitality professionals to stay consistent and be up to date regarding best practices at all times. “Persistence in obtaining knowledge and improving skills will help to cultivate one’s future opportunities within the company and industry. It will also support professional development to reach optimal performance,” Joyce concluded.
