Product update — August

As this is our first product update, it will be an aggregated update for the last two-three months.

24th of August

Ticket purchasing

Some museums have struggled with getting their visitors to download their apps, simultaneously with having visitors cue in the busy period. This is why we have added the possibility to purchase tickets through the app. This comes with an administrative module in Loby Studio to adjust prices and offerings while getting statistics.

Digital membership

Many museums provide memberships to their museums. By having it digitally it is easier to make the sale through the app, when they have already purchased a ticket. Furthermore this entails having a way of communicating with your most eager visitors.

Intro wizzard

For visitors to understand what the value of the app is, and for them to get the most out of it, we have added an intro wizzard. This briefly explains the outlines of the app, so they quickly can start exploring the museum with the use of the app.

8th of August

Automatic translation of content

It is added as a feature in Loby Studio, that content can be automatically translated to other languages. If the source language is English, the target language translation will be of very high quality. It will be mentioned that the content is automatically translated and there is a possibility to make manual adjustments or have the translation reviewed.

Text to speech

Many people prefer to listen to content, rather than reading it. Especially in a museum, where the looking should be at the objects on display. Therefore we have added the possibility to provide automatic text-to-speech. This isn’t available in all languages, but is of pretty decent quality for the major languages.

28th of July

Automatic translation of app

All buttons and notions in the app are translated to the phones native language. Content will be presented in the preferred language if the native language isn’t available.

Enhanced listening feature

Not all people carry their headphones around. This will make people hesitant to push the play button, without headphones plugged in. We have made it possible to hear the content through “the little speaker” as if you were talking on the phone. Further, the content will automatically pause when removed from the ear.

10th of July

Synchronised listening

When visitors are visiting the museum in groups, they are hesitant to use audioguides. To mitigate this, we have developed synchronised (or social) listening. The visitors visiting together scan each-others app to become part of the same listening group and their playback will hereafter be synchronised. When one from the group pauses, they all pause, and when they move through the exhibition the tracks skip simultaneously.

Support of location awareness

We have made a framework based on beacons, that enables very precise indoor positioning. This enables the museum to provide the guest with relevant content according to their position in the museum. We install and calibrate the beacons as part of the price.

30th of June

Support image recognition

If the museum wants to rely on image recognition rather than the infrastructure already available, this is now also a possibility.

Activate/deactivate pieces and collections

Sometimes collections or pieces are temporarily unavailable. Rather than deleting these entirely, or having to save them in some offline draft, it is possible to deactivate them (partly or in their entirety).

5th of June

Support of most common infrastructure

To support implementation at a wide variety of museums, we have made it possible to integrate with the most common infrastructure already in place. Whether you use wall-numbers, QR-codes or other identifiers, this is easily transferred to our platform.

Every museum is unique in its structure and presentation. This means that our platform should be as flexible as possible, to ensure that you can manage your collections and pieces accordingly. This means that you build the structure as you see fit, and add the content where it is fitting.
