Q: Does Invisalign Work? I’m thinking about getting braces to fix some of my teeth, but i’m dreading it. I’ve heard about Invisalign on tv and such, and i’ve gone to the website and read all about it. I understand that it’s better for certain people. But, I just want to hear from some people who have actually used it. My teeth aren’t bad at all, only a few crooked ones. So, if you’ve used or are using Invisalign, does it help? Is it better than getting braces?
A: Nobody’s teeth move the same, so for anyone to say that regular braces would have worked better are ridiculous. I was told I would need braces or Invisalign for at least a year. However my teeth moved better then expected (I choose Invisalign) and I’m almost done, maybe 2 more weeks. I got them on in June and it is now February 1st, so that will be less than 9 months! And they are perfect! I had one that had to be rotated almost 90 degrees and another where there was a gap toward the back (almost a small tooth width apart) and they also had to move the entire bottom teeth over about 1/4 of a small tooth length to get the center two top teeth to perfectly align with the bottom two teeth. They told me if the Invisalign didn’t work they could try regular braces. Apparently a lot of people (because you can take them out) don’t wear them as instructed. I only took mine out to eat and brush them (so I wore them about 23 hours a day) and wore my rubber bands the few times they asked me to. So not everyone’s teeth don’t move with Invisalign and just because it didn’t work for you, doesn’t mean that braces would have been faster.
Go talk to your dentist or orthodontist. Don’t trust the marketing on TV or the website, they are really there to just sell a product and not really to help you make the best decision.
