When in Amsterdam, do as the Dutch do.

That’s it. The Winter Olympics are officially over and life returns to normal again. People all over the world watched with disbelief how the Dutch ended up 5th in the overall rankings by only winning medals on skating.

Quite some TV shows, newspapers and bloggers tried to figure out what the exact driver behind our success is. Of course we like being the best in world, but a little bit of competition in Pyeongchang in 2018 would be nice. Our successful coaches will probably be hired by other countries to teach them how it’s done, but the city of Amsterdam is offering all skating newbies the best introduction ever this week.

We think this is a must-do experience for all tourists who are in Amsterdam this week.

The Olympic Stadium of the Amsterdam 1928 Olympics has been transformed into a skating rink. Can you think of a better place than a former Olympic Stadium to try skating for the very first time? It’s even possible to book a beginner lesson if you want to work on your technique immediately. Don’t worry when you can’t find yourself a spot in a lesson though. Those gold winning athletes have probably all learned skating by just doing it.

We think this is a must do experience for all tourists who are in Amsterdam this week. Maybe you will discover your hidden talent and be competing in the 2018 or 2022 Olympics. One thing is for sure though: you will have lots of fun by learning something typically Dutch.
