I’m a big fan of Idlys. I keep hunting for new, unique, and good Idly places wherever I go. My four years in Hyderabad weren’t as great Idly-wise, but I did manage to find few gems.

One of them was the popular Minerva Coffee Shop at Himayath Nagar. And no, I am not talking about the regular Idlys here — what’s the point of eating Idlys in Hyderabad without an extra dose of spice?

Guntur Idlys at Minerva Coffee Shop

Guntur Idlys in Minerva are things heavens are made of. Nice fluffy large sized Idlys dunked in homemade ghee and carefully coated with podi. The podi is not finely ground which creates an erratic burst of spice in your mouth. This along with the traditional coconut chutney, the ginger jaggery chutney, and the coriander and coconut chutney just make every bite cherishable. Do not, absolutely forget to wash it down with the amazing filter coffee there.

Priced at around INR 150 for two pieces of Idly per plate, it’s a slightly expensive affair in Hyderabad, but definitely worth it. Remember going early though — the place crowds up fast.
