We’re excited to announce that Local Kitchens has raised $25m in Series A funding to build digital food halls throughout California and beyond.

The round was led by General Catalyst, with participation from Human Capital, Pear VC, Fifth Wall, and Penny Jar, a new fund anchored by Stephen Curry. We’re also thrilled to welcome Kyle Doherty to the board, who brings an incredible wealth of experience investing in high-growth companies like Instacart.

In less than 6 months since our seed round, we’ve helped more than a dozen local restaurants add millions in new sales, while bringing exciting food options to cities throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. With this new capital, we’ll accelerate our growth into new markets, while building the team to scale our technology-enabled guest experience and kitchen operations platform.

As the $900bn restaurant industry shifts to digital and off-premise ordering, every restaurant is looking beyond bricks-and-mortar for growth. At Local Kitchens, our mission is to build a restaurant model that actually works economically for local chefs, not just the big chains who can afford it.

For the communities we serve, that means getting convenient access to a diverse range of local favorites like Oren’s Hummus, Senor Sisig, Curry Up Now and Proposition Chicken — all under one roof. Our digital ordering platform is built to give time back to families, foodies, and busy professionals, while enabling delightful experiences like the ability to mix-and-match many cuisines in a single order.

We’re proud to reach this milestone in a short period of time, and we are deeply grateful to our guests, restaurant partners, and incredible kitchen teams. But we’re still just getting started. What ultimately excites us is the potential to rebuild our food system and serve high-quality, authentic food to communities across the country. If you are passionate about the intersection of food and technology, with a service mindset and a drive for excellence, we are hiring.
