Hub Camp 2.0 — Transparency, Collaboration & Shared Value in Local Food Economies
We’re excited to announce Local Orbit’s next Hub Camp!
Over the past two years, Local Orbit has offered five boot camps for 140 start-up local food distribution entrepreneurs in California, Colorado and Michigan. We’re applying our learnings from these workshops, as well as our ongoing work across the supply chain to support local food procurement and distribution, to Hub Camp 2.0, November 7–9, 2016, in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
As local food markets are moving from the start-up phase to second stage, foodservice buyers and suppliers are looking for deeper supply chain resources and strategies for growth and sustainability. This hands-on workshop will bring together leaders and changemakers who have pioneered local food distribution and procurement and are managing second stage challenges and opportunities.
Speakers and discussion catalysts include Bill Thomas, the Chief Supply Chain Officer of Feeding America; Steve Mangan, Director of University of Michigan Dining; Dan Hobbs of the Rocky Mountain Farmers Union; as well as Local Orbit’s leadership team, with extensive supply chain, procurement, logistics and technology experience.
Topics include:
- Networks and Collaborative Supply Chains
- The Role of Data in Developing Sustainable Local Food Systems
- Food Banks in the Value Chain: Creating new markets, reducing food waste, leveraging logistics
- The Local Procurement Business Value Proposition
