“So, what is this Locasaur thing?”

Every interaction with your customers carries weight, and the last thing we want is for businesses to feel like they are having to “sell” Locasaur to their customers. We created personalized invites as a way to help this, but we want to make sure that business teams feel super comfortable talking to their customers about Locasaur and writing about it as well. See below for some helpful tips on when and how to introduce Locasaur.

When to Bring Up Locasaur

  • When you get customer information — Whether it’s a “join our Herd” checkbox on an email newsletter signup, or some sort of counter material. it’s easy to work joining Locasaur into your customer info process. It’s important to have a crisp answer to the question, “what’s Locasaur?” if they ask. See below!
  • When a customer asks for YOUR contact information — Handing out your personal contact information to customers who ask for it can be risky business. Locasaur provides an easy way for ensuring a personal touch while keeping all communication centralized and above the table. Saying, “oh, just join us on Locasaur, I’ll shoot you an invite” is an easy response.
  • After meeting a customer you really get along with — Run into a new customer you especially vibe with and think could be a regular? Inviting them into your Herd on Locasaur is a great way to seal the deal, and set the stage for a new regular relationship to evolve.
  • If you run special programs for your business — If you’re a business that runs special programs for certain customer groups, Locasaur can be a great tool to manage and engage with those groups (especially with our new custom tags) and an invite to your Herd can be worked right into the invite to your program.

General Answers to “What is Locasaur?”

  • “An app to message with us and other local businesses directly” — If your business is predicated on customization, or a heightened customer experience, mentioning that Locasaur is a direct line to your business is a quick way of showing value.
  • “Our app to communicate with regulars and inside crowd” — Everyone loves feeling like an insider! Play up that this is a platform for you and your business’ inner circle.
  • “An app to support local businesses and refer friends to your favorites” — Everyone likes supporting local! For patrons, regulars, and customers who really love your spot, recommending your business on Locasaur and referring friends to your herd is a very tangible way they can show their support.

Locasaur in Fine Print

Sometimes “talking” about Locasaur means writing about it. Most often this means sharing a little bit about Locasaur with customers alongside an invite link. See below for a few example templates on how to accomplish this.

Example of a dedicated Newsletter Email.

Example 1: The Newsletter Template. This template shows a dedicated newsletter blast inviting an email list onto locasaur. Note: the all important download link copy and pasted from the app, explicitly stating what customers can use Locasaur for, and the perk for joining. If setting this up seems arduous, let us know! We’re happy to help customize an invite email for you, or even send it on your behalf (with your approval of course).

Example 2: An Email Signature. Including a download link in the signature of your work or “info@” email is a great passive way of getting your customers used to seeing Locasaur as well. Note in the example below the signature includes the benefit for a customer to join the Herd right in the download link.

Example 3: A Newsletter Section. Instead of (or, in addition to) a dedicated email newsletter, businesses can include a popup on their weekly newsletter inviting customers into the Herd. Again, note the perk, and the author explicitly indicating what it’s for. We (Locasaur) are happy to provide graphics or designs for businesses that want to add something like this!

Example 4: Social Posts. For businesses that cultivate social followings, a post or two can be a good way of growing your Herd early on. Links can be shared directly to a social platform from the Locasaur Business App (see one such example here) but links can also be copy and pasted with more personalized picture or messages.

Example 5: Signup pads. For businesses that ask for customer information at the counter, dropping Locasaur into your flow is simple. Here’s an example of a custom signup pad that asks customers if they want to be invited to the Herd. Note in addition to the ask, there’s also a quick note about what Locasaur actually is. If you don’t currently collect info this way but want to, we’re happy to bake some of these up for you! If you send us your current signup pad we’ll do our best to match the design of your old ones.

The caveat to all the above of course is that the best answer is not general. The best answer is the one that highlights what’s great about being on the inside crowd at YOUR business. It’s simple — share with them what you use Locasaur for, and how it can benefit them. Then shoot them the invite, and we’ll take care of the rest.

Recap and Checklist:

Locasaur is pretty simple, and that’s the point! “Personal messaging for local businesses” is a start, as is “an app for digital word of mouth.” The best answer for what it is, however, depends on how your business uses it. Do today:

  • Come up with a short, super crisp answer to “what’s Locasaur?” that’s specific to your business and share it with any other members of your team. Let us know if you need help!
  • Add an invite link to a few places your customers will come across them, be it social, on email, or a website.
  • Reach out to Team Locasaur if you want help sending out an email blast or want customized marketing material
