Staff Spotlight: Daniel Hart, Account Executive

Have you looked at our online company store? If so, you may have noticed this t-shirt:

And you might have wondered, “Who in the heck is Dan Hart?”

You’re about to find out!

In this installment of Staff Spotlight, you’ll meet the only Account Executive at Spatial Networks who has his very own brand.

Meet Dan:

“Dan Hart here” is how Dan answers his phone. Which rings A LOT.

Tell us a bit about your background.

I’m originally from Kent, Ohio. I was working in the banking industry when I was recruited by a SaaS-based cybersecurity firm in Clearwater, FL, that was sold to a publicly traded company. Now I’m at SNI hoping to repeat my past success!

How did you get into this industry?

I was already interested in building apps from toying with a C++ on Windows 95 to building my first PC at the age of 12 (yes, I had to solder chips on motherboards then — man, I’m getting old). The internet was just in its infancy and AOL had everyone on board in my small town. If you didn’t have it then you were not one of the “cool kids,” so it was a must-have for me and my group. I learned very quickly that the future was in software, and I had to be a part of it!

What does your job entail?

I’m a Jack of All Trades but Master of None (haha), but mostly: understanding complex workflows from 10 different verticals with a mindset of improving and creatively thinking about how to automate those processes.

What gets you out of bed in the morning?

Having the chance to improve, help, and enhance people’s lives with one piece of software. Understanding our clients’ pain and having a real chance at successfully curing that pain. Interacting with all types of people from all over the world to come together to solve a problem.

What’s the most rewarding — or challenging — part of your job?

The challenge of bringing people together to solve their biggest problem.

Dan greets his newborn Niece.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Hang out with family and friends, have cookouts, go to the beach, beat the crap out of my brother in golf, and read sales how-to and self-improvement books.

What would people be surprised to learn about you?

I produced music with my neighbor when I was 15, but I quickly found out that I wouldn’t be able to make a living in that industry!

What’s your favorite place in the world, and why?

Northeast Ohio in the fall: golfing, football, chili in the crockpot, bonfires, and the leaves changing color with the smell of “winter is coming” in the air. It’s one thing Florida can’t come close to matching.

What’s your favorite book? Record? Movie?

What They Don’t Teach You at Harvard Business School: Notes From a Street-Smart Executive, by Mark H. McCormack. Highway 61 Revisited by Bob Dylan. Hackers.
