With the retelecast of Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan serial set to reach its finale, Bollywood actors have, once again, called for cracker-free celebrations during the finale.

“We know that this whole Diwali thingy is supposed to be when Ram returns to Ayodhya. And it’s happening on TV tonight, so I urge people not to burst crackers on the streets or from their terraces. We already have one environmental bio-hazard stalling this country right now and we don’t need another one right now,” cried actress Dia Mirza uncontrollably, wiping her copious tears with packs of tissue paper. Actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas too, smoking a brand new cigarette, complained that the cracker smoke was harmful not just for humans, but also the poor animals and birds.

Gorging on a chicken sandwich, self-styled comedian Vir Das joined the fray, slammed ‘trolls’ and the ‘IT cell’ for being insensitive towards animals on the streets. “One day, when I start my own country, with a city named Das as its Kapital…err, capital, the first law that I’ll pass will be a Diwali cracker ban, with Kapital..damn it …again, capital punishment for violations,” the self-proclaimed comedian quipped, eliciting a tsunami of laughter smileys from Indian millennials.

Meanwhile, according to sources, a PIL has been filed with the Supreme Court, urging it to fix a 5-minute window during the airing of the serial, for bursting crackers and penalize those bursting outside the window.

Rumours are rife though, that the PIL might have been filed by Union Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan himself.
