Single-screen theatre owners to name balcony class after PM Modi
After yet another announcement from PM Narendra Modi urging the nation to perform a task from their balconies and doorsteps, the Remaining Single-Screen Theatre Owners Association (RSSTOA) has passed a resolution to name the balcony classes of their theatres, after him.
“When the first few rows at the front can be called Gandhi class, there is absolutely no reason why the balcony class cannot be called the Modi class. With his recent task announcements, he has given a new lease of life to balconies in general — not just the ones in theatres. All these days, balconies were mainly being used to house plants, or to hold clothes put out to dry. But now, PM Modi has made sure that balconies are the hotspots of tributes to the nation,” said RSSTOA president Rohan Bhagat.
The move has been hailed by BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malviya, who termed it nothing short of a legendary masterstroke. “In the olden days, warriors fought wars from raths or chariots. Today, PM Modi is making our warriors fight COVID-19 from their balconies. Such being the case, there can’t be a more befitting tribute,” he gushed, urging that a Bharat Ratna be awarded to the PM soon.
Interestingly, while the opposition hasn’t reacted to the announcement so far, actor and MNM chief Kamal Haasan showered praise on the move. “Surely this balcony government couldn’t have asked for anything better,” he smiled.
Self-styled intellectuals and scholars, however, came down hard on the turn of events. “First, he appropriated the Nehru jacket and people began calling it the Modi jacket soon. And now, with the Gandhi-class being a reference that’s as old as the hills, he wants to take that on too. If this isn’t the prime exhibition of outlandish megalomaniac fascism, then what is?” cried YGNS Guha, as he was whisked away by the police.
