In Australia “Manchester” means bed linen and cotton towels (and sometimes, table-cloths). The “Manchester” aisle in Australian shopping centres stock both bed and bathroom products.

Manchester was a large industrial centre for the production of cloth. Sheets and towels were the predominant cotton goods produced in Manchester in the 19th century.
