LockTrip Reports a 163% Increase in Volumes for October 2023
Record Month, New Charts and New Design!
Welcome to LockTrip’s first-ever monthly booking report! We have plenty of exciting stuff to share, including several metrics that are revealed for the very first time — dressed in fresh designs and accompanied by record-breaking numbers on several fronts! With all that, let’s get right into it.
Note: Starting today, we will no longer include cancelled bookings in our reports.
Room-Nights Booked
A total of 1,366 room-nights were booked through the LockTrip.com marketplace in October, surpassing the previous record from February by a wide margin. Looking at the year over year comparison, bookings grew by a solid 124%!
Booking Volume (EUR)
This came at a time when the booking volume reached even higher levels, surpassing the previous record from September by a whopping 55,000 EUR! Year over year, volumes grew by an impressive 163%!
Share of New Lead Bookings
New Metric! — “New Lead Bookings” are defined as placed within 30 days after registration. Thus measuring the contribution of newly acquired users to the total performance.
The metric remained relatively stable despite the launch of our marketing campaigns at the start of this year, since they boosted both the acquisition of new users (via cold outreach) as well as the re-activation of existing users (via retargeting and email marketing).
Core Bookings
New Metric! — “Core Bookings” are defined as reservations that are made by users with at least six months of membership history.
This metric helps us identify the long-term booking trends and cumulative potential of the existing user base. By focusing only on older accounts, we are able to filter out the short-term volatility arising from marketing campaigns and other factors.

This chart is pretty self-explenatory. The top 10 countries booked by room-nights!
New Referrals
New Metric! — “New Referrals” are defined as users who are assigned to a LockTrip affiliate and verified their email address.
As can be seen, the affiliate activity can be quite dynamic, with a healthy progression throughout 2023. So far this year, every month had at least 500 new referrals registered.
New Verified Users
New Metric! Looking at the broader picture that includes all users, we see a much clearer shift starting with January 2023. The rate of user acquisition more than doubled this year, thanks to the ongoing marketing campaigns.
Total Verified Users
As a result, we recently surpassed the historic milestone of 100,000 verified users on our marketplace! Let’s work together towards the 200,000.
Monthly Unique Paying Users
New Metric! — “Unique Paying Users” is defined as the number of users who made at least one booking during the month (excluding cancellations).
Here we also saw a record month, surpassing the 300 mark for the very first time.
Total Unique Paying Users
Looking at the broader picture, we recently surpassed 3,500 unique paying users on the marketplace — an important milestone as we keep reaching new audiences.
