LockTrip Reports a 101% Increase in Volumes for January 2024
Welcome to LockTrip’s booking report for January 2024! Last month was a record one, especially for the headline metrics such as the booking volume and room-nights. Let’s dive into it!
Note: Cancelled bookings are not included in our reports.
Room-Nights Booked
A total of 1,888 room-nights were booked through the LockTrip.com marketplace in January, growing by 79% year over year and significantly surpassing the previous record of 1,337 room-nights!
Booking Volume (EUR)
Looking at the booking volumes for the month, a total of 264,000 EUR were recorded, marking by far the best result ever! Year over year, volumes grew by an impressive 101%!
Share of New Lead Bookings
“New Lead Bookings” are defined as placed within 30 days after registration. Thus measuring the contribution of newly acquired users to the total performance.
Reaching 37% in the month of January, the momentum for new user acquisition continues to be strong and in line with previous months.
Core Bookings
“Core Bookings” are defined as bookings that are made by users with at least six months of membership history.
This metric helps us identify the long-term booking trends and cumulative potential of the existing user base. By focusing only on older accounts, we are able to filter out the short-term volatility arising from marketing campaigns and other factors.
January marked a new record, surpassing the previous record set in October by a whopping 41%!
Most Booked 10 Countries
This chart is pretty self-explanatory. The top 10 countries booked by room-nights! European contries continue to dominate this ranking. This month, Thailand also had a strong performance.
New Referrals
“New Referrals” are defined as users who are assigned to a LockTrip affiliate and verified their email address.
As can be seen, the affiliate activity can be quite dynamic, but still shows a healthy progression. The year of 2024 started strong in terms of newly registered referrals, achieving the second best month to date.
New Verified Users
Looking at the broader picture including all users, we see a clear shift starting with January 2023. The rate of user acquisition more than doubled since then, thanks to the ongoing marketing campaigns.
This month marked another strong result, reaching more than 6,000 newly registered users — a value that was surpassed only once in May 2023. Compared to the same month of the previous year, sign-ups grew by 52%.
Total Verified Users
As a result, the total number of verified users on the marketplace reached 117,000.
Monthly Unique Paying Users
“Unique Paying Users” is defined as the number of users who made at least one booking during the month (excluding cancellations).
Here we see another record month with 457 unique paying customers — surpassing the previous high set two months ago by 29%!

Looking at the broader picture, we now have more than 4,300 unique paying users on the marketplace — an important step as we keep reaching new audiences.
LOC Burns
The total number of burnt LOC surpassed 143,000 by the end of January. In addition to that, more than 22,000 LOC were waiting to be burnt once the customers check into their hotels.
