The Pacific Northwest in the United States is amazingly beautiful, especially the Oregon coast! The highlight of my mini-vacation in between work events was taking a day road trip on the famous Route 101, the Oregon Coastal Highway.
Although I did not get to drive the entire highway running all the way from the norther border of California to the southern border of Washington, I was still able to catch some amazing views, even with mother nature under the weather.
There was too much to see to have a favorite but there were a few areas where the coastal views were more than incredible. There was Paradise Point Park in Port Orford, the black sand on Rockaway Beach (My second black sand beach! Shout out to Iceland!), Gold Beach, and the largest coastal dunes in North America and one of the largest in the world, just south of Florence.
After a nice coffee break at the Brown Hen cafe, I took one more stop in Depoe Bay before shooting back over to Portland to bring my mini-vacation to an end. I can only imagine all the other areas I missed due to time constraints. I can’t wait to go back! Especially to storm watch off of the Washington coast!
I would 100% recommend this low-budget road trip to anyone who loves the outdoors. There was not a single area that costs money with exception of the sand dune recreation area! Especially since you can save even more money while sleeping when you book with LockTrip! Enjoy!
