The Locus Labs Experience
Welcome to the first of many (I hope) blogs for Locus Labs! If you don’t already know, Locus Labs is a new kind of tech innovation hub, a “Maker Space” 2.0 in Newark, N.J. We are dedicated to helping entrepreneurs, scientists, craftspeople, hobbyists, students- basically anyone interested in learning to use technology to produce tangible items that further their passions.
So what is a “Maker Space” you ask? A Maker Space is just that, a space where you can make things. It’s a space that provides tools, materials, advice, and environment to support those interested in producing things for the betterment of themselves and others. It’s a place where you can collaborate with kindred spirits or just find personal solace in craftwork. Locus Labs is a 2.0 version of your traditional makerspace because we offer a full suite of services that extend beyond just access to the tools but go the extra mile of connecting those tools to even greater opportunities. It’s the location where we hope, innovation, manufacturing, and real development can occur.
As Locus is defined by Miriam-Webster as “a: the place where something is situated or occurs; b: a center of activity, attention, or concentration” our blog is The Purveyor. Why the Purveyor? Because it’s a source for information; a transmitter of insight; and a bringer of knowledge in areas of interest for makers. It’s the place where you gain greater insight on tools, techniques, technologies, and events. The Purveyor is the broadcaster of information helpful to those wishing to do things better. It is communicator for those offering their skills in making our communities in Newark, a true Locus of innovation. I look forward to the stories and insights the Purveyor will provide, and hope those reading will be inspired to follow along, as well as add their own thoughts and ideas. Wishing you many jobs well done!
