Creaks and Waves
The enigma of the old lighthouse
A Drabble is a 100-word short fictional story. You’ve got to ramble with words and form a nice, intriguing plot.
Word of the day: Moonlight
The old lighthouse stood silently by the sea, its beacon long gone.
Under its shadow, Volga whispered, “Do you believe in ghosts, Kai?”
He chuckled, “No. But this place does feel weird.”
As they stepped inside, moonlight filtered through the cracked windows, casting haunting patterns on the walls.
Suddenly, a cold breeze swept past them.
“Did you feel that?” Volga’s voice trembled.
“Yeah,” Kai admitted, eyes wide. “There’s more to this than meets the eye.”
Both stood still, listening.
The distant sound of waves and the faint creak of floorboards made them wonder if the lighthouse’s secrets were still alive.
The story is inspired by Jessica's Quill drabble drop challenge and its associated word, “moonlight.”
