Drabble Drop FAQ’s (guidelines) here.

A Drabble is a 100-word short story. Drabble Drops uses a randomly generated word as the challenge but not as a title or character name.

“Why’s everything so grey?” Leo asked, kicking a pebble.

“No one remembers colours,” Jane replied. “It’s always been grayscale.”

Leo squinted, imagining the hues. “I read about colours once. They seemed… magical.”

“Magic?” Jane chuckled, a rare sound. “More like a dream.”

Leo picked up a discarded tin can. “What if we found them again?”

Jane’s eyes gleamed, a spark in the monotony. “Then we’d see hope.”

They walked on, the grey city looming. Jane glanced back, a hint of blue flickering in her mind. Leo saw it, too, a shadow of what could be.

“Tomorrow,” he said, “we’ll search.”
