DRABBLE DRABBLE DROP | FICTION | LODESTAR GAZETTE
Starlit Sentinel
Where secrets illuminate
A Drabble is a 100-word short fictional story. You’ve got to ramble with words and form a nice, intriguing plot.
Word of the day: Lantern
In the quiet corner of a forest, amidst the hushed whispers of ancient trees, stood a lone figure.
Kael, an apprentice mage, held aloft his glowing lantern, its ethereal light flickering in rhythm with his thoughts.
“Do you think they’ll find us?” He murmured to his companion, a wary fox with eyes that gleamed like stars.
The fox tilted its head, ears twitching, before replying in a soft, knowing tone, “Not if we stay hidden in this grove. The lantern’s magic will shield us.”
With revived determination, Kael nodded, their trust in the magical lantern persistent under the night’s cloak.
The drabble is inspired by CJ Coop's drabble drop challenge and its associated word “lantern.”
