DRABBLE DROP | FICTION | LODESTAR GAZETTE
The Delivery of Love
A Mother’s Day surprise
A Drabble is a 100-word short fictional story. Neither less nor more than that, packed with hidden messages with the word of the day.
Word of the day: Card
Ava sneaked out, pretending to go cycling, without informing her mother.
“Where is she?” Christy scratched her head when she couldn’t find her dotty.
The bell rings, and she wonders who’s there at this hour.
“Yes. Who are you?” Christy asked, confused.
“Good morning, ma’am. This is for you,” the delivery man said and left.
“Happy Mother’s Day, maa.” Ava came back and hugged her mother.
“Did you like the surprise?” She asked Christy, who nodded with tears.
She was delighted by a handwritten card and exquisite flowers.
“I love you, maa.” Ava smiled as her mother kissed her cheeks.
The story is inspired by Jessica's Quill drabble drop challenge and its associated word, “card.”
